New reviews for Matter Summer Special by Philip Barrett and I: You’re Living in the Past by Eve Englezos and Joshua Moutray, both in the online store. A few new things for the store too: II: No Time Like the Present; III: About Yr Future; and Icecreamlandia #1, all by Eve Englezos and Joshua Moutray. Also everything is in order in the store (except for the stuff today) and, while I’m not going to have a formal fundraising drive or anything, if anybody got it in their head to order a bunch of comics, now would be an excellent time. I now have over 400 comics in the store, so there’s certainly plenty to choose from. Just pointing it out because these appendectomy bills and starting to pile up and I’m starting to wonder if they could just put the damned thing back in if they’d offer a refund…
Update for 4/29/08
April 29, 2008New reviews for Snake Oil #1 by Chuck Forsman and The Wee Days #2 by Jai Granofsky. Still waiting for a price on the last of the stuff for the store, and I’m still slowly plugging the new books into place. Oh, and hoping that my stomach doesn’t explode again…
Update for 4/25/08
April 25, 2008New review for Tales to Demolish #3 by Eric Haven (also available in the store), and I put everything else from Sparkplug books up in the store: Bookhunter by Jason Shiga, Asthma by John Hankiewicz, Reich #1-3 by Elijah Brubaker, Matter Summer Special by Philip Barrett, Windy Corner #1 edited by Austin English, and Reporter #5 & 6 by Dylan Williams. Still a few more things left for the store, believe it or not, but I may or may not get to them this weekend.
Update for 4/24/08
April 24, 2008No new reviews today because I’m worn out after adding new stuff to the store: Watching Days Become Years #1-4 by Jeff LeVine, Edison Steelhead by Renee French, Boy’s Club by Matt Furie, Christina & Charles by Austin English, Asiaddict by Mats!?, and Mine Tonight by Alixopulos. That’s not even half of the new stuff, so more tomorrow.
Update for 4/23/08
April 23, 2008A new review today for In Anticipation of Hugs: A Sock Monster Collection by Neil Brideau and all sorts of new books were added to the store from Short Pants Press: The Bone Closet and Herman Belquest by Robert H. Stevenson, Shuteye #4: Carrefour by Sarah Becan, An Army of Lovers Will Be Beaten Book One by Bernie McGovern, North Arrow #1: Grove of Fireflies by Drew Crowley and the comic from Neil I reviewed today. And if you think that’s a lot of new stuff, I’m technically not even medically cleared to lift the box of new stuff from Sparkplug Books due to the sheer volume of comics inside, and those should start popping up here tomorrow…
Update for 4/22/08
April 22, 2008New review for And Who is My… Neighbor by Matthew McDaniel, and the rest of the stuff from T. Motley for the online store was added: Aline the Alien/Wonder World flip book with Lonnie Allen, Neptoons, Damn Weird #23, Comic Book Artists I Have Seen, All the Trees are Pink, Es Brillig War and The Drawing Stick. I’m also filtering things into their appropriate alphabetical spots, something that is somehow far duller than it sounds, but progress is being made at least…
Update for 4/21/08
April 21, 2008New review for Clean by T. Motley, and all kinds of new things in the store, all from the same guy: True Fiction #1, 2, 3, 5 & 6, Froggy’s Problems, Clean and Let Me Out Of Here. And that’s only the first half of the books he sent me!
Update for 4/20/08
April 20, 2008New reviews for Small Bible: The Old Testament by Shannon Smith and Rashy Rabbit #4 by Josh Latta. Next week I have the ambitious idea of not only doing updates every day but also having daily updates with new stuff for the store, and I have a stack of stuff just waiting to be put in. I shouldn’t be moving heavy things around as I’m currently an invalid, but there are ways around that…
Update for 4/18/08
April 18, 2008New reviews for Slither #2 by Kelly Froh (also available in the store) and Only Skin #3 by Sean Ford. And yes, believe it or not, that sitting up at the computer and writing these things really did wear me out. Sad, I know, and I was hoping this time off would have been a lot more productive with the website. Once they get these 22 staples out of me things will have to start looking up though…
Update: So here’s the story 4/14/08
April 14, 2008Things had finally settled at work, I was all set to start getting the website back up to speed… when my appendix damn near exploded. I had to get it removed at the start of last week, they said it was roughly the size of a lemon (look it up in the google, that’s way, way too big) and, 6 days later, I’m just now starting to feel vaguely human again. The good news is that I have the next 3 weeks off work so in the next couple of days I’ll be able to start posting again, after that I should be able to get caught up on the mounds of new comics for the store. So yes I am still alive, and yes the website will be normal again soon, provided no more organs explode.
Update for 3/30/08
March 30, 2008OK fine, so the long hours are finally getting to me and I’m unable to even kind of keep up with the updates. Here are a couple today to start to make up for it: One Year in Indiana by Kurt Dinse and The F.E.D.S. #5 by Steven Myers. And things might really, truly, I mean it this time be slowing down at work, which would mean normal updates by the middle of the week
Update for 3/27/08
March 27, 2008Ok, so maybe saying I could keep up with updates was a bit much. New reviews today for Concepcion by Rickey Gonzales and Taproot by Matt Kish, things might quiet down a bit over the weekend, in which I have a ton of new stuff for the store again and will get caught up a bit with reviews. Or things might get suddenly busy again and you can disregard this message…
Update for 3/24/08
March 24, 2008New review for Epic Tales of the Mundane #1 by Brad Dwyer, and I’m only working measly 12 hour shifts this week, so I should still be able to get at least most of the regular updates during the week. Yes, I am in fact happy about having my hours cut to “only” 12 a day…
Update for 3/22/08
March 22, 2008Huzzah for being done with this first of many projects at work! The grand total: 11 days and 136 hours worked. Go democracy! Updates today for As Eavesdropped #2 by Suzanne Baumann and Breathers #1 by Justin Madson. I’m really hoping to get the updates back to normal for next week, I have a ton of new stuff to go into the store and I’m slowly shuffling the existing stock into alphabetical order. Hey, any web designers out there who would like to redesign things around here? I could pay a bit at least, and if you like comics enough (because why else would you be hanging around here?) I could work out some sort of lifetime comic discount. Anybody interested please send me one of those e-mail things.
Update for 3/16/08
March 16, 2008Yes, a real update, although the reviews might be a little dopier than usual, with new reviews for Zombie Bob’s Resume of Jobs by Jimmy Proctor and The Mean Goat #1 by Kris Lachowski. It looks like more of the same at work for me next week so probably nothing new until the weekend. Hey, if you’re bored at work, just pick a letter in the author index and go down the line. I’ll bet there are people in there you’ve never heard of. Also, if anybody wanted to post a reader review or two for something, I’ll be happy to give it top billing this week…
Update for 3/15/08
March 15, 2008Ok, so “sporadic posting” was a bit optimistic. For the curious, after work tomorrow I will have worked 85 hours this week, so at least I have a good excuse. I’m going to try and get a couple of reviews up tomorrow but next week will probably be pretty dead around here too. Sorry, but these people work hard on their comics and me coming in mostly brain dead from lack of sleep and rambling about these things doesn’t do anybody any good. More tomorrow…
Update for 3/9/08
March 9, 2008I forgot some new comics for the store yesterday in all the recent confusion: Slither #1-5 by Kelly Froh, to go along with her other books that were already available. New reviews today for Slither #1 by Kelly and Spunj Baahb by Chris Cornwell, and I should also mention that I’ll probably be working a whole lot this next week to make up for these snow days, so posting may return to being sporadic over the next week.
Update for 3/8/08
March 8, 2008New comics are up in the store! Everything is towards the last couple of pages for now, as I cycle through the incredibly obnoxious process of putting them in alphabetical order. The new books are: Slam Bang #3 Volume 2 and Slam Bang #1 Volume 3 (two anthologies edited by Allen Freeman); Blink #4 by Max Ink; Broads and Monsters and The Titusville Geek by Pat Lewis, Time Warp #1-5, The Cloud and Ten Itty Bitty Shitty Pieces of Art by Dan Taylor; and Ruffians #1-7 by Brian Canini, with a new review for Ruffians #7. Now I’m going to go play in the snow a bit…
Update for 3/7/08
March 7, 2008Hey, snow day! Blizzard warning in central Ohio means I get to update the site, get out of work a bit early and maybe even have a day off tomorrow. Updates are for Lackluster World #4 by Eric Adams and Veggie Dog Saturn #2 by Jason Young, if I am around over the weekend I’ll post up all the new stuff for the store…
