New review for Neil Jam #15 by Neil Fitzpatrick, sadly the last of my Neil Jam pile. And there are still a lot of months to go before I see him at another convention…
Update for 7/29/08
July 29, 2008New review for Neptoons by Tom Motley, another of the books that’s in the online store, which will be up and functioning properly again soon…
Update for 7/28/08
July 28, 2008New review for Bald Knob by John Hankiewicz, and I’m just putting new reviews at the top of the individual artist pages until I figure out how to see the images on my end. Otherwise I’d be deleting them without even knowing…
Update for 7/27/08
July 27, 2008New review for Pockmarked Apocalypse #1 by Jeff Lok, and when I said that I was going to catch up on things here this weekend, I mostly meant getting the inventory for the store in order and ready to go for when it opens up again in a couple of weeks. Just to clear that up…
Update for 7/24/08
July 24, 2008New review today for Salvager Kain #1 by Paul Sloboda, and I’ll try to make up for lost time a bit this weekend. By then I should actually have all these various piles of comics in my room sorted out…
Update for 7/22/08
July 22, 2008New review today for Neverland by Dave Kiersh, right up there at the top of his mammoth page. Plenty of reviews there, but nothing at all for a few years, at least until today.
Update for 7/21/08
July 21, 2008New review today for Slither #3 by Kelly Froh, another book that’s available in the online store, or at least it will be when said store exists again. Also my work schedule has changed dramatically, possibly for the next few months, from 3pm to midnight, so reviews will come earlier in the day. Huzzah for one more new thing to read at work while you’re supposed to be doing other things!
Update for 7/17/08
July 17, 2008New review today for Tragic Relief, the graphic novel by Colleen Frakes, not to be confused by the minis of the same name by the same person. As to why some reviews come up fully on the main page and some just pop up with the “read more” option, I’ll let you know just as soon as I figure out why that is…
Update for 7/16/08
July 16, 2008New review for Vampires Need Love Too! #2 by Brian Cattapan, which would be available in the online store if it was working right now. You can still buy it and everything else in there if you want, it’ll just take e-mailing me and letting me know what you want. Or waiting until the store is fixed in a few weeks…
Update for 7/15/08
July 15, 2008New review for Atlas #3 by Dylan Horrocks. Yeah, I know I should probably only be doing minis, but there’s a good chance some people didn’t even know this was out, and my comic pile is still a bit of a mess from being out of town and/or incapacitated for so long. Back to the actual minis tomorrow…
Update for 7/14/08
July 14, 2008New review for Strange Science Fiction #7 by Matthew McDaniel, and the images are mixed up from #6 and #7 because I can’t see images when I’m editing a post. Lovely, but something that’ll be fixed soon, if all goes well. As for me, thanks to everybody who expressed concern, let’s just call 2008 a fairly lousy year so far and leave it at that. I’m back, updates should be regular from now on (yes, I mean it) and, while the store may still be a couple of weeks away, all of the reviews are fixed, so search away without fear of excessive question marks.
Update for 7/2/08
July 2, 2008Nothing new, there are family issues I’m dealing with and am not around the comics at the moment. Here’s hoping things are back to normal by next week, in the meantime I’m still plugging away and trying to fix everything else, and as for comments, unless I start getting real ones soon I’m just going to turn them off instead of having to delete bunches of them every day. I never liked the concept much anyway, so that won’t be a problem…
Update for 6/26/08
June 26, 2008New review for Jumbly Junkery by L. Nichols, and the fixing of the pages is slowly moving right along, although the store will probably still be a week or so. Again, if anybody has to have their comics, perhaps to blow up with fireworks for the holiday, I can still put together an order the old fashioned way, with people e-mailing their list. Heck, I could even use this telephone to put something together, as I’m just that dedicated…
Update for 6/25/08
June 25, 2008OK, I have no idea how to make that post below visible only as a “read more” type of clickable thing, but at least I’m able to do updates again. The new review is for What a Whopper by Dan Archer, as you can see, and here’s the plan: one review a day while I dig through the rest of the site and get it up to speed, then more once that’s done. Real life may interfere with this is a bit over the next week with the holiday and personal stuff, but that’s the plan. As for the rest of it, you know, if you’ve ever had a wish list for this site, now is the perfect chance to let me know. I’m debating putting together a used comics marketplace in the store (for me to try to clear some stock, but in the long run ideally for all sorts of people to use, sort of like a focused eBay for comics) and possibly credit cards for the store, assuming the cost isn’t prohibitive. Any more ideas, well, I’m listening…
Update for 6/19/08
June 19, 2008OK, this is a chore, so please bear with me. I’ve added the category of “Fixed Reviews”, as there are multiple listings for pretty much everybody on the page, and I’ll be putting them in the Fixed Reviews category as I pare them down to one page and fix all the errors from the transfer. If you have a page here or have a friend with a page here, please check it out, see if the images are still where they’re supposed to be, check if there are any ridiculous errors (outside of all the question marks) and get back to me at whitey@opticalsloth.com. I’ll be digging through these 3000 pages as time permits (and the real number of artist pages is probably going to be closer to half of that when I get rid of the dups), but if your page is mysteriously gone I need to know, as I didn’t have every single person on this page memorized before the spammers hit. I’ll be out of town this weekend so chances are things will stay sloppy for a while, but the store should be back up soon (if you have to have comics right now just e-mail me and I can put an order together), the pages should be fixed in the near future and, frankly, I’m liking this Word Press setup much better than the old one. Not sure about the comments though, as pretty much all of the ones I’ve seen so far have been porn spams…
Update: Think things look a little off?
June 15, 2008OK, clearly things are screwed up around here at the moment. Blame some dedicated spammers who sent off a whole bunch of e-mails from my website, or my computer, or something like that, and all sorts of things have to be done to get things back to normal. It’s also not really clear to me how long it’ll take to get everything back up. A week maybe? In the meantime, all of the old content should still be around, under reviews in that tab on the right side. Things will be back to normal as soon as possible though, so please bear with me…
Update for 6/7/08
June 7, 2008New reviews for Bog Wizard by Rob Jackson and Epic Tales of the Mundane by Brad Dwyer. Too hot to make any additional comments…
Update for 6/5/08
June 5, 2008New reviews for Sorry by Various folks from iknowjoekimpel.com and Sad Chemistry by Sean Mac Roibin & John Robbins. As for Rusty Jordan, I just needed to fix a few things on his page…
Update for 6/4/08
June 4, 2008New review for Ron Weasley and the Ewok Invasion by Dave Roman & John Green, here’s hoping the power stays on long enough here for the internets to accept this message…
