It’s a bittersweet day here at the Sloth “office”, as it’s the last Tempo Lush Tuesday, this time for Tempo Lush #10: The Heartache of Square McBear by Richy Chandler. Still waiting for a half dozen issues of some other series so I can keep this sort of thing going…
Update for 10/12/09
October 12, 2009New review for Debacle #3 by Barry Rodges, the last of his unreviewed books from the store. And yes, I am going to be reviewing something I’m not selling tomorrow, and probably even for the rest of the week.
Update for 10/11/09
October 11, 2009New review for Slam Bang Volume 2 #3 edited by Allen Freeman, one of the oddly forgotten books from the online store, proving that there is a silver lining in this current drought of comics.
Update for 10/10/09
October 10, 2009New review for Ochre Ellipse #2 by Jonas Madden-Conner, but if you keep up with award-winning small press comics you already know all about it.
Update for 10/09/09
October 9, 2009New review for Hoju #2 by Edgar Castro, newly available in the store along with his Hojuween. Yes, I know I missed an update yesterday, it’ll all be made up for once I get around to ordering that pile of comics/when somebody out there gets around to sending me a pile of their comics.
Update for 10/7/09
October 7, 2009New review for The Bridge Project edited by Matt Leunig, and where are all those new books from SPX? Don’t you people want some cheap and easy publicity?
Update for 10/6/09
October 6, 2009It’s the penultimate Tempo Lush Tuesday, with a review for #9: You Are Such A Pathetic Loser. And, once again, if anybody wanted to step up with another mini comics box set, or a half dozen issues of a series, I’d be happy to do another weekly spot. Hey, why not a 24 hour series? People do 24 hour comics sporadically, sure, but why not make it a series? Not every day, as most people would drop dead, but maybe do one or two a week. Think of it, a series in no time at all!
Update for 10/5/09
October 5, 2009New review for the Harvey-nominated The Dreamer #2 by Lora Innes. Well, technically the whole series was nominated for Best New Series, but you get the idea.
Update for 10/4/09
October 4, 2009New reviews for Glorianna: Sneak Preview by J. Kevin Carrier & Tim Fischer and And Then One Day #7 by Ryan Claytor, which is also newly available in the store along with his The Machinist. I didn’t get as much stuff as I thought at the conventi0n, so I’ll probably be getting comics through the internet after all.
Update for 10/2/09
October 2, 2009New review for Adventures of the Right Hand by Woojung Ahn, and there may not be an update tomorrow because I’ll probably be at the convention. If not I’ll make up for it on Sunday with brand new things to talk about, so there is that.
Update for 10/1/09
October 1, 2009New review for Debacle #1 by Barry Rodges, which was quite possibly his first mini and it available here in the store.
Update for 9/30/09
September 30, 2009New review for Blood Orange by Justin Giampaoli & Grant Lee, also newly available in the store.
Update for 9/29/09
September 29, 2009Tempo Lush Tuesday! New review for Tempo Lush #8: The Sculptor by Richy Chandler. You know, I’d be up for doing this for anybody else who sent me a bear stuffed with a bunch of mini comics. As long as I can make it vaguely alliterative on my end I’m happy.
Update for 9/28/09
September 28, 2009New review for Ochre Ellipse #1 by Jonas Madden-Connor, happy dreary Monday!
Update for 9/27/09
September 27, 2009New review for Too Negative #12 by Jenny Gonzalez, another comic that I’m pretty sure you can find at SPX just in case you read this on Sunday before hitting the show.
Update for 9/26/09
September 26, 2009New review for Nicaragua by Marek Bennett, something else you should be able to pick up if you made it to SPX this weekend.
Update for 9/25/09
September 25, 2009New review for Spaz #2 by Emi Gennis, which should be debuting at SPX tomorrow and Sunday. I’ll be getting to more of these debuts over the weekend, as it looks like I’m not going (unless a very rich person orders a bunch of comics in the next couple of hours). Thanks to everybody who ordered, it all goes back into comics for the site. Maybe next year I can actually save money and plan ahead for the trip like everybody else…
Update for 9/24/09
September 24, 2009New review for Battles of Paradise #2 by Jerell McFalls, and there weren’t any sales in the last 24 hours, so I’m still about $100 short of a trip to SPX. For those who are curious, that means that I’ll come home from work tomorrow (about 6pm E.T.), check to see if it happened and, if so, pack a bag and hit the road. I’m honestly not expecting it, but hey, try it and see what happens. Otherwise there’s a little, decidedly non-small press convention in Columbus next weekend, so maybe I’ll just go there and scour the place for mini comics instead.
Update for 9/23/09
September 23, 2009New review for Midville High #4 by Matt Blair, and anybody who wants to help me get to SPX officially has about 36 hours to do so.
UPDATE: OK, I’m about $100 short of going to SPX this weekend. As a pessimist by nature I’m not holding my breath, but at least I’ll be able to get a decent pile of mini comics through the internet and hey, you never know. Maybe somebody has $100 burning a hole in their pocket, or two people have $50 burning a hole, etc.
Update for 9/22/09
September 22, 2009It’s Tempo Lush Tuesday, so that means it’s time to review Tempo Lush #7: I Hate David Samson by Richy Chandler. I really like the ring of that Tempo Lush Tuesday, so I’ve decided that Richy has to get new comics to me every week once this box set runs out. Hey, it’s only 52 comics a year. I can’t imagine that’ll be a problem…
