New review for Hojuween by Edgar Castro, also available in the store, and no, I couldn’t wait for 10/31.
Update for 10/28/09
October 28, 2009New review for Pat Makes Drawings #1 by Pat Aulisio, not part of the current parade of new books for the store, just so that’s perfectly clear.
Update for 10/27/09
October 27, 2009New review for Department of Art by Dunja Jankovic, and if you guessed that it’s newly available in the store you would be right.
Update for 10/26/09
October 26, 2009New review for Blue Fuzz the Hero by Jesse Reklaw and yes, you can buy it from here if the mood strikes you. Isn’t that convenient?
Update for 10/25/09
October 25, 2009New reviews today for Sausage Hand by Andrew Smith (available in the store) and The Day I Killed Jesus/The Legend of Rebob Mountain by Julia Wertz (a flip book and one of the few things reviewed recently that isn’t available in the store).
Update for 10/24/09
October 24, 2009New review for The Machinist by Ryan Claytor, which is also available in the store, but is not one of the Sparkplug books. Yes, I know I missed an update yesterday and will try to make up for it tomorrow. I have a head cold that makes me think it might be better to hold up on this stuff until I can form coherent thoughts in these ramblings. Then again, that’s never stopped me before…
Update for 10/22/09
October 22, 2009New review today for Jin & Jam #1 by Hellen Jo, and yes, it is also available for sale in the store. That’s going to be the case with most of the comics I review for the next couple of weeks…
Update for 10/21/09
October 21, 2009Hey look, it’s a new comic available for the store! Today it’s The Shortest Interval by David King.
Update for 10/20/09
October 20, 2009New review for Neptune by Aron Nels Steinke, another book newly available in the store. I’ve decided not to make this any sort of official “Sparkplug comics week” (as if much of anything is official around here), as it would do a disservice to these books to just put piles of them on the site every day. Instead I’ll just keep adding them until they’re done, but I’ll throw in reviews for the new books I keep getting as I go. Just in case anybody out there cares about that sort of thing.
Update for 10/19/09
October 19, 2009New review for Reich #4 by Elijah Brubaker, and it’s now available in the store along with Reich #5 and 6. So if you’ve gotten behind on the story now’s the perfect time to catch up, wouldn’t you say? Of course, if you’re just waiting until the end of the week when I put up a whole pile of new books from Sparkplug, that makes sense too.
Update for 10/18/09
October 18, 2009New review for Pinstriped Bloodbath, a new anthology edited by Jeff Zwirek and containing all sorts of Chicago artists. Also, I got the biggest box of comics in the world from Sparkplug Comics yesterday, so next week is all new reviews for new comics available in the store. Huzzah!
Update for 10/17/09
October 17, 2009New review today for Breakfast at Mimi’s, the first big collection from Marek Bennett of his strips. Also, a lesson to people starting up their own review site: it’s best to check the main page after updating and before running out the door for the evening, as the update for Tuxedo Bandit #3 by Rainer Lee wasn’t set to the proper date and was left in limbo. So here it is!
Update for 10/16/09
October 16, 2009New review for Tuxedo Bandit #3 by Rainer Lee, happy weekend everybody!
Update for 10/14/09
October 14, 2009New review for Jumbly Junkery #7 by L. Nichols, and that is one impressively creepy cover.
Update for 10/13/09
October 13, 2009It’s a bittersweet day here at the Sloth “office”, as it’s the last Tempo Lush Tuesday, this time for Tempo Lush #10: The Heartache of Square McBear by Richy Chandler. Still waiting for a half dozen issues of some other series so I can keep this sort of thing going…
Update for 10/12/09
October 12, 2009New review for Debacle #3 by Barry Rodges, the last of his unreviewed books from the store. And yes, I am going to be reviewing something I’m not selling tomorrow, and probably even for the rest of the week.
Update for 10/11/09
October 11, 2009New review for Slam Bang Volume 2 #3 edited by Allen Freeman, one of the oddly forgotten books from the online store, proving that there is a silver lining in this current drought of comics.
Update for 10/10/09
October 10, 2009New review for Ochre Ellipse #2 by Jonas Madden-Conner, but if you keep up with award-winning small press comics you already know all about it.
Update for 10/09/09
October 9, 2009New review for Hoju #2 by Edgar Castro, newly available in the store along with his Hojuween. Yes, I know I missed an update yesterday, it’ll all be made up for once I get around to ordering that pile of comics/when somebody out there gets around to sending me a pile of their comics.
