Update for 10/6/07

October 6, 2007

OK, I’ll admit it, last week got away from me completely. Between the birthday, starting work again (and the overtime that goes with it), my Red Sox being in the playoffs and trying to kill the flu that wouldn’t die, the website got shuffled off to the side. So I’ll make this pledge: for every week, I’ll get at least five reviews up. It may not be daily as most of you expect, but by the end of the week there will be five new reviews. Chances are things will settle back down to (more or less) normal soon, but just in case it happens again, I’ll make up for it over the weekends. So, for today, two new reviews: Negotiating The Beast by Sean Mac Roibin & John Robbins and Strange Science Fiction #4 by Matthew McDaniel. I also ordered some minis recently, so there should be a decent amount of new stuff on the way.

Update for 10/2/07

October 2, 2007

New review for Panel #1 by various Columbus people. That’s right, the mythical first issue of Panel. As for the website, no updates tomorrow because it’s my birthday and I should work as little as possible. If anybody is feeling particularly generous, you could always order some comics as a birthday present. Comics for you, a little $ for me, everybody wins!

Update for 10/1/07

October 1, 2007

New review for King Cat #66 by John Porcellino, also in the online store. Sorry about the late update today, but the timing of the updates will be wonky for a bit as I get settled back in at work…

Update for 9/27/07

September 27, 2007

New reviews for Earth Minds Are Weak #8 and Ogner Stump’s Automotive Sorrows by Andrew Goldfarb, both of which are available in the online store. Hey, having no new comics around to talk about at least gives me an excellent excuse to talk about the stuff in the store…

Update for 9/26/07

September 26, 2007

New review for Achilles In Love And Death by Grant Reynolds, which also comes with a record by Scout’s Honor.

Update for 9/25/07

September 25, 2007

New reviews for Too Negative #9 by Jenny Gonzalez and True Travel Tales #3 by Justin Hall, both of which are available in the online store. And, by the way, this is what I mean by “sometimes one review, sometimes two”.

Update for 9/24/07

September 24, 2007

New review for Tardcore Comics #2 by Lee Lavy.  OK, here’s the deal. I’m going to head back to work next week (yes, it turns out that taking the summer off in part to fix up a website about comics wasn’t enough to make me independently wealthy), so that combined with the general lack of new comics at the moment means that I’m going back to one review a day. If I find myself with a sudden pile of new comics and/or some extra free time, it’ll be back to two reviews a day, although that’ll probably be more sporadic for the next few months or so at least. If anybody wants to post their own reviews, as always, I’m happy to take them and promote them up here on the main page…

Update for 9/21/07

September 21, 2007

New reviews for two comics available in the online store, Hate Yer State #2 by Corey Bechelli and Slackmatic #1 by Ryan Holgersen & Nathan Brewer. I’ll throw my plea up for new comics to review here one more time in case anybody sees it over the weekend. It’s not quite to the point where I’m going to have to bust out old Quasar issues and start rambling about them, but that time is fast approaching…

Update for 9/19/07

September 19, 2007

New reviews for Fish Out Of Water by Christopher Davis (also available in the store) and Panel #2: Architecture by Various people, mostly out of Columbus Ohio. Oh, and to anybody who ever paid attention to the forums, I think I’ve finally eradicated all the spammers and things should be safe to go back there and chat. Or, if it stays as dead as it has been, I’ll probably just kill it altogether in a month or so…

Update for 9/18/07

September 18, 2007

New reviews for Strange Science Fiction #3 by Matthew McDaniel and Midnight Fiction 2008 Desk Calendar by Richard Krauss and various artists, and that calendar is available in the online store, for anybody out there who could use a decent desk calendar…

Update for 9/17/07

September 17, 2007

New reviews for Unlovable #5 by Esther Pearl Watson and Dare by Nik Havert and Renatus, both available in the online store. Also, if you have any new books that you’d like up on this website in a hurry, there’s basically no waiting for reviews, as I’m almost out of comics and completely out of means to get many more for the next month or so. Just putting the word out there…

Update for 9/14/07

September 14, 2007

New reviews for Nobody Can Eat 50 Eggs #32 by Steve Steiner and Elm City Jams #2 (also available in the store) by Isaac Cates, Mike Wenthe and various other folks. Happy weekend!

Update for 9/13/07

September 13, 2007

New reviews for The Bone Closet by Robert H. Stevenson and Muse #3 by Jamie Chase.

Update for 9/12/07

September 12, 2007

Just one review today, for Cerebus Readers in Crisis #2 by Jeff Seiler and various other folks. I was going to write another review, but the first review (probably the longest ramble in the six years I’ve been doing this website) took it all out of me. What can I say, it’s impossible for me not to have an opinion about the guy. Enjoy!

Update for 9/11/07

September 11, 2007

New reviews for Thief #4 by Rene Blansette and Brown Day Bag by Jeff Lok.

Update for 9/10/07

September 10, 2007

New review for Worthless Comix #6 by David Beyer Jr. There’s only the one review today as I did inventory for the store over the weekend (with the help of a friend or it would have taken forever) and found a few comics that I have but weren’t listed because I’m an idiot: Planet Named Desire #6 by Joe Marshall (7-9 were already listed), Cannibulimic by Lydia Gregg and Prowl by Pat Lewis. I also deleted the things that are currently unavailable, although a few things only have one copy left, so it is still possible to order something that I don’t have around. It’s just much, much less likely than it was last week…

Update for 9/7/07

September 7, 2007

New reviews for Giants Rising by Ted Seko and When Are You Coming Home? by Christine Pointeau. Also, a public service announcement: if you were planning on buying a copy of Hot Fuzz because it’s such a wonderful movie, you should know that there’s a fancypants three disk version coming out in a few months, making that crappy old one disk version of yours (or mine, as the case may be) completely worthless. Happy weekend!

Update for 9/6/07

September 6, 2007

New reviews for Super #2 by Kevin Breslawski (also available in the store) and Nate Corrigan’s Gumshoe Sketchbook #3. Also, seriously, if you know anybody who wants their comics reviewed, now is the perfect time. I’ll go through the piles over the weekend to make sure nothing got buried (yes, it really is that chaotic around here) but the remaining pile of stuff to review is looking wafer thin…

Update for 9/5/07

September 5, 2007

New reviews for Miniature Sulk by Jeffrey Brown and Strange Science Fiction #2 by Matthew McDaniel, and any time that summer would like to end would be fine with me…

Update for 9/4/07

September 4, 2007

New reviews for Great Moments In Baseball by Molly Lawless (available in the online store) and Burning Building Comix #2 by Jeff Zwirek.Anybody want to buy a bunch of baseball cards? I’m looking to unload a bunch of stuff from 1986-1988, in other words the two years when I paid any attention to baseball cards…
