August 21, 2009New review for Two Eyes of the Beautiful by Ryan Cecil Smith, and I don’t usually mention web comics around here because I prefer the paper ones, but Chris Anderson’s comic The Ego and the Squid kept me up much later than I wanted to be last night. Mostly hilarious, and they all have comments attached that include responses from Chris that usually makes them even funnier. And he does it every day!

August 11, 2009Well, blame Richy Chandler for me briefly changing how things are done around here. Richy, you see, has put out what looks to be a gorgeous mini comics box set, and I reviewed the first issue (Lucy the Octopus) today. With this many comics, however, I can’t really do what I usually do and wait until the author is off the main page before updating again. So until this set is done, I declare Tuesday as Richy Chandler day here at the Sloth. Hey, if you want similar treatment, make up a mini comics box and send one to me. I’m a sucker for those things…

August 9, 2009New reviews for Amazing Adult Fantasy #21 by Tim Doyle and Eraser Dust #5 by R.C. Johnston. It turns out that TODAY is the 8th anniversary of the site. Um… huzzah! Thanks to everybody who has supported it over the years, either with free comics or with buying comics, or just the general well-wishers. I don’t always answer those e-mails because there’s nothing more awkward to me than responding to somebody saying how much they like the site, but I do read and appreciate them. Now, thanks to the old e-mail file of one Jason Dupuis (who is one of the few people besides me to have reviews up on this site), here is the original forward when I was getting things rolling. I didn’t keep up with the interviews, obviously, because it took a lot more time than you would think to do the research. I also changed the name of the site after a couple of lawyer friends informed me that Xerox could sue the bejesus out of me if they ever noticed my existence.

August 6, 2009New review for Gulliver Brimstone by Scott Claringbold & Brian Typhair. I know, I missed a day yesterday. Should have had more ready to go after the election, but I’ll most likely make up for it over the weekend. And tomorrow, with no fanfare whatsoever, is the 8th anniversary of the launch of the site. With a different name, granted, but still, 8 years of this nonsense. If anybody is feeling especially nostalgic and/or wants to offer some form of congratulations/condolences, why not order some comics? You get the comics, I get some of the money. Everybody wins!

August 4, 2009New review for Big Funny, which is basically a newspaper full of comic strips. Yes, it’s the size of an actual newspaper, if not bigger. The planners seem to mostly be from Minnesota, the contributors seem to be from all over the place. Also, I’m writing this in the past, as it’s an election day, so if the sun has exploded or something, that’s why I haven’t commented on it.
