Thought I’d start the new year off right with a review of the latest from John Porcellino, King Cat #73. And I should have a much easier time of keeping a regular schedule here this year, what with the big election over and all. Let’s wait and find out together, shall we?
Update for 12/26/12
December 26, 2012New review today for The Disappearance of Gordon Page, Jr. by Robert Hendricks. Looks like a major snowstorm hit just as I was supposed to get back to work, which is a nice late Christmas present.
Update for 12/21/12
December 21, 2012New review today for Daggurs: Troubled Youth by Sam Spina. Hey look, we’re all still here. Now we can finally come together as a country and dismiss all the stupid conspiracy theories like the Mayan’s bright idea that this would be the end of the world forever and usher in a new age of reason and rationality. Hurray!
Update for 12/20/12
December 20, 2012I had an internet outage yesterday, so at least my heart was in the right place with the lack of a review. New one today for The Pig Sleep by Cory McCallum & Matthew Daley.
Update for 12/18/12
December 18, 2012New review today for Gingerbread Girl by Paul Tobin & Colleen Coover. See? Regular updates. Two in a row makes a pattern, right?
Update for 12/17/12
December 17, 2012Yes, really! Man, has it been a month and a half since the last update? My apologies, but I ended up getting a couple of wisdom teeth taken out after work slowed down, which has had me in a dopey haze for a couple of weeks (I never end up with the easy version of surgeries for whatever reason), but now things should be back to normal. Until the holidays hit, and who knows what happens then? But I’ll get as many reviews up as I can in the meantime, so here’s one today for DemonDust #12 by Bernie McGovern.
ZZZZZupdate for 11/27/12
November 27, 2012Just checking in to let everybody know that I am still alive, that I have a stack of comics I’m looking forward to reviewing, and that I’m STILL working crazy hours at the Board of Elections. When I come up for air from that mess I’ll get to all of the comics that were sent my way, possibly in a frenzy (if I take some time off work) or not (if I don’t). Your patience is appreciated! Oh, and the store still works if you want to order stuff, but please list some replacements too because I’m out of stock on a number of things. That will be fixed when I have the time, like everything else.
Update for 11/2/12
November 2, 2012New review today for Underwire by Jennifer Hayden. I should be able to get at least one more review up over the weekend, but I’ve already put more out this week than I had anticipated. Huzzah for small victories!
Update for 10/31/12
October 31, 2012New review today for Any Empire by Nate Powell, and happy Halloween for everybody who actually has the free time to enjoy it!
Update for 10/30/12
October 30, 2012New review for Lucille by Ludovic Debeurme. And so much for the regular updates, as apparently it’s all overtime this week too. I’ll still try to sneak in reviews when possible…
Update for 10/28/12
October 28, 2012New review today for Lower Regions by Alex Robinson. Reviews next week will probably be sporadic (I’m still hoping to get five up but am also a realist about my schedule) and the week after that is when the real chaos starts, so it’ll be between slow and dead around here for a couple of weeks after the election. Please plan your reading schedule accordingly!
Update for 10/26/12
October 26, 2012New review today for Co Vediamo by Hazel Newlevant, and I should still be able to get a review up at some point over the weekend.
Update for 10/25/12
October 25, 2012Hey, I said I’d get five reviews up this week, but I did not say that I’d do them five days in a row. New review today for The Lovely Horrible Stuff by Eddie Campbell!
Update for 10/23/12
October 23, 2012New review today for DemonDust #11 by Bernie McGovern. Everybody in Ohio has already done the early voting thing, right? As this seems to be the only state that counts this time around (sorry everybody else!) you might want to get on that. Otherwise it’ll be your fault if that lying scumbag gets elected! You know who I’m talking about…
Update for 10/22/12
October 22, 2012Yes, an actual update! New review today for Delayed Replays by Liz Prince, but I’m a little rusty in talking online in complete sentences, so it’s a little shorter than my usual rambles. This is the “quiet week” between when everything had to be finished at the BOE and the chaos that will come right before and after the election, so maybe I’ll even manage to get five reviews up this week. I live in hope!
Update Schmupdate 10/14/12
October 14, 2012No, it’s not really an update. My hours at work have to go under 70 hours a week for that to happen. But you can still order comics (as a few people have discovered) and there’s a big old archive for you to sift through to kill time at work. Try going into the “Reviews By Author” tab, picking a letter and going through the list. I’ve been doing this for over 11 years, you’re bound to have missed a few along the way.
Update for 9/26/12
September 26, 2012New review today for Veggie Dog Saturn #6 by Jason Young. Yes, I’m taking a sick day. So sue me. Hey, Top Shelf is having their big $3 sale up through Friday, and everybody reading this should go buy a bunch of their stuff. They use this to cover a big part of their yearly operating expenses, and you get a big old pile of genuinely great comics for much cheaper than you normally would. Everybody wins!
Update for 9/22/12
September 22, 2012New review today for the Drunken Cat Comics Anniversary comic, in which Brian Canini celebrates 11 years of making comics. Hey, this website is 11 years old too now! And once again I forgot/was too busy to properly commemorate the occasion. Oops. In terms of reviews, the good news is that I found the pile from SPACE of this year that was misplaced in the recent move, so those should be popping up here more frequently. When time permits me to review stuff, obviously.
Update for 9/16/12
September 16, 2012New review today for The Index #2 by Caitlin Cass. I should point out that my plan for weekend reviews has been messed up more than a little bit by the fact that I worked Saturday and Sunday this week. You know what would be right in my wheelhouse for the next several weeks, o comics writers and artists? Short mini comics. And hey, there’s the address that you could send them to right on the sidebar! Just saying…
Update for 9/11/12
September 11, 2012New review today for Colossal: Vulpes Vulpes by Jason Ludtke. Maybe more reviews this week, unless overtime hours increase. If so, more reviews on the weekend.
