New reviews for Plastic Farm: Seasons of Growth in the Fields of Despair by Rafer Roberts and Backseat Drivers #2 by Clint Basinger. Happy rest of the weekend everybody, more updates on Monday…
Update for 5/15/08
May 15, 2008New reviews for two books in the online store, The Drawing Stick by Tom Motley and Bookhunter by Jason Shiga. Oh, and it’s back to work for me next week, so reviews might slow down a bit. Or not. Abnormal posting seems to be the norm around here lately…
Update for 5/14/08
May 14, 2008New reviews for The Untold Tale of the Fighting Flag! by David Branstetter and Neil Jam #14 by Neil Fitzpatrick.
Update for 5/12/08
May 12, 2008New reviews for Jam in the Band Preview by Robin Enrico and Man Man and Friends #3 by Gareth Brookes. Also I got the whole bill for my recent hospital extravanganza and yeah, a fundraiser wouldn’t even scratch the surface. Unless somebody out there wanted to buy a couple thousand copies of the most expensive items in the store, that is. Or unless there’s some fantastically rich person reading this who always wondered about this small press comics world and wanted to order one copy of everything in the store just for the heck of it…
Update for 5/9/08
May 9, 2008New reviews for The Bizzare Expeditions of Makaveli Hammertoe by Pat McNutt and Tales From the Flat #6 by Laurence Powell & Oliver Lambden. Probably won’t be able to update over the weekend but you never know…
Update for 5/8/08
May 8, 2008New reviews for Boom Fantasy! #1 by Phil Skaggs Jr. and Asymmetrical Opossum by Shannon Smith. Neither of these things are in the online store, but it occured to me that I still have things from SPACE (two months ago and counting), not to mention all the mail I got when I was laid up, so maybe theme weeks are a bad idea for the time being…
Update for 5/7/08
May 7, 2008New review for Edison Steelhead by Renee French, another in the pile of new books for the online store.
Update for 5/6/08
May 6, 2008New reviews for Let Me Out Of Here by Tom Motley and Reich #1 by Elijah Brubaker, both available in the online store. And what the heck, let’s make it a theme week with all the new stuff in the store, so I can try to keep slightly caught up.
Update for 5/5/08
May 5, 2008New reviews for Matter Summer Special by Philip Barrett and I: You’re Living in the Past by Eve Englezos and Joshua Moutray, both in the online store. A few new things for the store too: II: No Time Like the Present; III: About Yr Future; and Icecreamlandia #1, all by Eve Englezos and Joshua Moutray. Also everything is in order in the store (except for the stuff today) and, while I’m not going to have a formal fundraising drive or anything, if anybody got it in their head to order a bunch of comics, now would be an excellent time. I now have over 400 comics in the store, so there’s certainly plenty to choose from. Just pointing it out because these appendectomy bills and starting to pile up and I’m starting to wonder if they could just put the damned thing back in if they’d offer a refund…
Update for 4/29/08
April 29, 2008New reviews for Snake Oil #1 by Chuck Forsman and The Wee Days #2 by Jai Granofsky. Still waiting for a price on the last of the stuff for the store, and I’m still slowly plugging the new books into place. Oh, and hoping that my stomach doesn’t explode again…
Update for 4/25/08
April 25, 2008New review for Tales to Demolish #3 by Eric Haven (also available in the store), and I put everything else from Sparkplug books up in the store: Bookhunter by Jason Shiga, Asthma by John Hankiewicz, Reich #1-3 by Elijah Brubaker, Matter Summer Special by Philip Barrett, Windy Corner #1 edited by Austin English, and Reporter #5 & 6 by Dylan Williams. Still a few more things left for the store, believe it or not, but I may or may not get to them this weekend.
Update for 4/24/08
April 24, 2008No new reviews today because I’m worn out after adding new stuff to the store: Watching Days Become Years #1-4 by Jeff LeVine, Edison Steelhead by Renee French, Boy’s Club by Matt Furie, Christina & Charles by Austin English, Asiaddict by Mats!?, and Mine Tonight by Alixopulos. That’s not even half of the new stuff, so more tomorrow.
Update for 4/23/08
April 23, 2008A new review today for In Anticipation of Hugs: A Sock Monster Collection by Neil Brideau and all sorts of new books were added to the store from Short Pants Press: The Bone Closet and Herman Belquest by Robert H. Stevenson, Shuteye #4: Carrefour by Sarah Becan, An Army of Lovers Will Be Beaten Book One by Bernie McGovern, North Arrow #1: Grove of Fireflies by Drew Crowley and the comic from Neil I reviewed today. And if you think that’s a lot of new stuff, I’m technically not even medically cleared to lift the box of new stuff from Sparkplug Books due to the sheer volume of comics inside, and those should start popping up here tomorrow…
Update for 4/22/08
April 22, 2008New review for And Who is My… Neighbor by Matthew McDaniel, and the rest of the stuff from T. Motley for the online store was added: Aline the Alien/Wonder World flip book with Lonnie Allen, Neptoons, Damn Weird #23, Comic Book Artists I Have Seen, All the Trees are Pink, Es Brillig War and The Drawing Stick. I’m also filtering things into their appropriate alphabetical spots, something that is somehow far duller than it sounds, but progress is being made at least…
Update for 4/21/08
April 21, 2008New review for Clean by T. Motley, and all kinds of new things in the store, all from the same guy: True Fiction #1, 2, 3, 5 & 6, Froggy’s Problems, Clean and Let Me Out Of Here. And that’s only the first half of the books he sent me!
Update for 4/20/08
April 20, 2008New reviews for Small Bible: The Old Testament by Shannon Smith and Rashy Rabbit #4 by Josh Latta. Next week I have the ambitious idea of not only doing updates every day but also having daily updates with new stuff for the store, and I have a stack of stuff just waiting to be put in. I shouldn’t be moving heavy things around as I’m currently an invalid, but there are ways around that…
Update for 4/18/08
April 18, 2008New reviews for Slither #2 by Kelly Froh (also available in the store) and Only Skin #3 by Sean Ford. And yes, believe it or not, that sitting up at the computer and writing these things really did wear me out. Sad, I know, and I was hoping this time off would have been a lot more productive with the website. Once they get these 22 staples out of me things will have to start looking up though…
Update: So here’s the story 4/14/08
April 14, 2008Things had finally settled at work, I was all set to start getting the website back up to speed… when my appendix damn near exploded. I had to get it removed at the start of last week, they said it was roughly the size of a lemon (look it up in the google, that’s way, way too big) and, 6 days later, I’m just now starting to feel vaguely human again. The good news is that I have the next 3 weeks off work so in the next couple of days I’ll be able to start posting again, after that I should be able to get caught up on the mounds of new comics for the store. So yes I am still alive, and yes the website will be normal again soon, provided no more organs explode.
Update for 3/30/08
March 30, 2008OK fine, so the long hours are finally getting to me and I’m unable to even kind of keep up with the updates. Here are a couple today to start to make up for it: One Year in Indiana by Kurt Dinse and The F.E.D.S. #5 by Steven Myers. And things might really, truly, I mean it this time be slowing down at work, which would mean normal updates by the middle of the week
