Update for 2/7/09

February 7, 2009

New review for Jeff Sharp’s Flummery: 10th Anniversary Edition, another one of the shrinking pile of comics available in the online store.  Also, to any government official reading this, I promise to spend any money received for comics sold on this site on more comics, which should help with this stimulus thing you’re shooting for, or at least it’ll help the “starving artist” demo.

Update for 2/6/09

February 6, 2009

New review for The Herbivores #1 by James Stanton, a young man who was clearly smart enough to know that I’m pretty much reviewing things the same day I get them in the mail at the moment.

Update for 2/5/09

February 5, 2009

New review for Time Warp Comix #5, edited by Dan Taylor, featuring various folks and available in the online store.

Update for 2/4/09

February 4, 2009

New review for The Big Skinny by Carol Lay, and this is as good a time as any to mention the tough times alternative cartoonists like Carol are going through.  I know, times are tough all over, but weekly strips are often the first thing to go when money gets tight, and people like Carol (and Tom Tomorrow, Derf, Keith Knight, Ted Rall, etc.) are getting cancelled all over the place.  If you have a weekly local paper and they’ve cut the comics, why not send a nauseatingly polite e-mail to the editor of that paper mentioning that the comics are one of the main reasons you pick the things up to begin with?  Doesn’t cost you a dime and it may just convince some of these people to keep going once things get really ugly in a few months.

Update for 2/3/09

February 3, 2009

New review for Romantic Eye #1, edited by Mark Innes and featuring all kinds of people.  This is also the same Mark Innes who reminded me (just after I finished reading this comic, which was excellent timing) that he also published Oatmeal II, which I reviewed a few days ago without knowing where people could get a copy.   Well, now I know!

Update for 2/2/09

February 2, 2009

New review for Extricate #9 by David Birchall, and as it’s Groundhog Day I feel compelled to say something that’ll be familiar to everybody who comes here on a daily basis: send me some comics!  I was at a loss for what to review today, but this comic came in the mail, making that decision simple.  See how easy it is to get your comic mentioned on a moderately seen (in the small press comics world anyway) website?

Update for 2/1/09

February 1, 2009

New review for Asiaddict by Mats!?, one more comic from the online store for all you poor people to think about buying.

Update for 1/31/09

January 31, 2009

New review for Oatmeal II by Henrik Rehr & Lars Horneman, one of those hard to find books that I’m putting up here anyway.  Also, huzzah for one whole month (minus the few days at the start when I was out of town) of constant rambling!   Only 11 more to go…

Update for 1/30/09

January 30, 2009

New review for XO #4 by Brian John Mitchell & Melissa Spence Gardner (scroll down his page to see it), one of those rare comics that is so small that it actually got lost in the pages of another comic in my “to do” pile.

Update for 1/29/09

January 29, 2009

New review for Ogner Stump by Andrew Goldfarb.  No, not THAT Ogner Stump, this is a brand new one.

Update for 1/28/09

January 28, 2009

New review for Punked by Jeffery J. Manley, also available in the store.  Just scroll way down his huge page to get there.  Also, the weather people were finally right and for the first time in 4 years my work has actually been closed due to snow.

Update for 1/27/09

January 27, 2009

New review for The Cosmic Norseman #1 by Clint Basinger, and once again the weatherman has fooled me into taking a snow day when I didn’t really need to.  That’s it, tomorrow I’m going to work even if I have to take the dog sled in to get there…

Update for 1/26/09

January 26, 2009

New review for The Comic Book Holocaust by Johnny Ryan, and it’s exactly what it sounds like.

Update for 1/25/09

January 25, 2009

New review for Null & Void #6 by Donovan Cater, also available in the online store, and I had to dig deep in the vault for this one.

Update for 1/24/09

January 24, 2009

New review for Eric Whetsel is Johnny Tobaccoseed by Tom Cherry, and yes, I did update Tom’s page fairly recently.  If only I had a bigger pile of minis to review I could mix things up a bit more.  Alas…

Update for 1/23/09

January 23, 2009

New review for Watching Days Become Years #4 by Jeff LeVine, also available in the online store.

Update for 1/22/09

January 22, 2009

New review for Family Tales #5 by Janice Lowry, and it’s been one whole day since my plea for new comics and I haven’t received any yet!  Oh woe is me.

Update for 1/21/09

January 21, 2009

New review for Inside Outsiders #42 by John Robbins (and did I mention in the review that I’m not entirely convinced that this is actually a #42?), and I’m throwing a call out there for more comics again.  Once I get the old tax return I can get a pile of new stuff to review, no problem.  Until then, well, it’s just the stuff people send me in the mail.  It also doesn’t have to be your stuff necessarily either, you know.  Maybe you know somebody who does excellent work but is shy about putting it out there, or maybe you have a list of things that you are amazed aren’t already on the site.  Or maybe you don’t want to send me comics because I was harsh to one of your older books.   Well… so send me your awesome new book to prove how wrong I was!  I love it when that happens.  This daily review thing can only keep up as long as I keep getting books in the mail.  If you consider that a good thing, send me some books!

Update for 1/20/09

January 20, 2009

New review for Eclectic Comics #1 by Andrew Wales, and is it possible that that colossal failure is finally out of office?  Still doesn’t seem real.

Update for 1/19/09

January 19, 2009

New review for Mallard #3, an anthology out of England edited by Tom English.
