The Comic Book Holocaust"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnnyr.com\/\">Website<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/opticalsloth.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2004\/12\/holocaust1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"holocaust1\" src=\"https:\/\/opticalsloth.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2004\/12\/holocaust1.jpg\" alt=\"holocaust1\" width=\"399\" height=\"504\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Comic-Book-Holocaust-Johnny-Ryan\/dp\/0976684896\/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1233011530&amp;sr=8-3\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>The Comic Book Holocaust<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s say, and why not, that you&#8217;re a Johnny Ryan fan and enjoy his lampooning of various comics icons.\u00c2\u00a0 But they only happen here and there, for a panel or maybe a page at a time, and then it&#8217;s back to the business of his usual comic.\u00c2\u00a0 Well, fret no more, as this collection has all you could ask for in terms of making fun of every sacred cow in comics.\u00c2\u00a0 The book is broken up into four parts: daily comic strips, superheroes, independent icons, and&#8230; various, I guess.\u00c2\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t recognize half the things in that last category.\u00c2\u00a0 These are all one page strips, and look one tiny notch above sketchbook level at some points.\u00c2\u00a0 When text is scribbled out there are just ugly black marks in the word balloons.\u00c2\u00a0 But what, you&#8217;re reading Johnny Ryan comics for their neatness?\u00c2\u00a0 There&#8217;s no sense debating the quality of the work either;
